Maharashtra features a number of excellent beaches as well as beach resorts along its coastline. The state also has a lot of historical and heritage sites to check out and many old colonial forts.

Juhu beachLocated along the shores of the Arabian Sea, one can find one of the busiest and most popular beaches in the country. Located near the city of Mumbai, you can find the Juhu beach which boasts a number of excellent resorts as well as a very attractive nightlife thanks to the local cities of Mumbai, Kulfi and Bhelpuri.

An important part of India’s rich ship building industry from the 17th century can be found in Baseein. The beaches also serve for historical importance as the location in which the Portuguese were defeated by the Marathas. The beaches along this ancient city are none the less amazing and a great choice to get away from the hectic city atmosphere since it is only 77 kilometers away from Mumbai.

For one of the most breathtaking beaches in Maharashtra, you need to stop by and check out the long stretches of beaches found only at Vengurla. The rich shoreline vegetation offers many pallet quenching fruits like coconuts, jackfruit and mangoes. The sand shimmers in the afternoon light and when you are finished at the beach you can visit the Vengurla rocks which are better known as the Burnt Islands.

Hong Kong’s summer is a tough time for hiking and so forth, but can be great for heading to a beach.Geographically it consists of a small archipelago which highlights Hong Kong Island and Kowloon Peninsula.

Hong Kong is dotted with beaches, some grotty, some wonderful. With locals fond of heading to the seaside – especially during weekends and holidays – many of these beaches have facilities for swimmers, including changing rooms with showers, lifeguards, and shark nets (thanks to over-exploitation, sharks are rare in Hong Kong waters, but during the 1990s, there were several shark attacks, some fatal).

Today, the island of Hong Kong has become one of the world capitals of modern architecture. After New York City, Hong Kong is the second city in the world with the largest number of skyscrapers. Four of the 15 tallest buildings in the world are in Hong Kong.
On the southeast coast of the island, Turtle Cove is isolated and beautiful, and Shek O’s beach has a community feel. Day trips to the outlying islands can also include sunbathing on a clean beach. You can reach most beaches by bus or taxi (HK$150 and up).

The waters off beaches in the New Territories, particularly the Sai Kung Peninsula, are crystal clear. Pollution can be a problem on the Southside, though that doesn’t deter the thousands who flock seaside for respite from the summer heat. Hong Kong’s Environmental Protection Department has set some tough guidelines and goals for cleaning up area waters.
